Jim Caldwell -- Biography

September 21, 2007
I have taught English at Carrollton Community High School since 1990. Before beginning my career in education, I worked as a journalist in the Chicago area for three years. I received both my master's and bachelor's degrees from Eastern Illinois University and also attended Elmhurst College for teacher certification.
For the most part, I have taught freshman and junior English courses at Carrollton. I have also taught Advanced Placement English (four years) and continue to serve as yearbook advisor (12 years) through the publications class.
In addition, I have served as an adjunct instructor for Lewis and Clark Community College since the mid-1990s. I teach two night classes for the college each semester, including summer.
Extracurricular duties have included coaching baseball, track, and basketball, mostly at the junior high level. My 2004 seventh grade team at St. John's placed third in the IESA state tournament -- the best-ever finish for a Greene County boys' basketball team.
My wife, Sue, and I have two children: Zak (17) and Kelly (13), and we have lived in Carrollton since 1990.
