PHYSICAL EDUCATION

RULES & PROCEDURES

2007-2008

1.  Respect everyone and their property.  This includes the school's property.  To avoid problems      with personal property loss, please keep your locker locked at all times when not in use.

2.  No electronic devises ( Walkmans, CD Players, Cell Phoness, etc.) allowed.  If you are caught      with of these devices it will remain in teacher's possesion until the end of the day the first time,      end of year second.

3.  Be honest.  No cheating will be tolerated during any activities.

4.  Be prepared.  You are required to provide a pen/pencil to complete all test and/or quizzes.  All     days your are required to be dressed in P.E. UNIFORM ( NO EXCEPTIONS)

5.  No profanity.

6.  Permission must be granted by the teacher for you to leave the gym/activity area for any      reason.  If we are outside, permission must be granted to go inside.

7.  No gum.

8.  No Jewelry

9.  Do not play with equipment until being instructed to do so by the instructor.  At the end of      class, please be sure all eaquipment (including weights) is where it belongs.

10.  ALL DRINKS MUST STAY IN THE LOCKER ROOM.  STUDENTS ARE NOT       ALLOWED TO BUY DRINKS AND TAKE IT TO THEIR LOCKERS.

CONSEQUENCES

The following are consequences that may occur if rules are broken.  Consequences will be based on severity and number of warnigs given to you or the class.  More than one may be issued to you at one time.  ( Example:  You use profanity in class repeatedly.  Consequence - your are kicked out of class and receive a detention.)

1.  Loss of points for the day

2.  Physical workout

3.  Detention

4.  Removal from class with "No Dress"

5.  Removal from class and sent to office

6.  Letter to parent.

 

PROCEDURES

1.  Students proceed immediately to the locker room to get dressed.  All tardy students will be sent to the office to receive a pass marked excused or unexcused.  

2.  After dressing for class, students will line up inside the locker room to be dismissed to the gym.

3.  Upon entering the gym, all students will line up in alphabetical order for attendance and announcements.

4.  When instructed, students will proceed to their designated exercise spots for daily exercises.

5.  After completion of exercises, students will complete the cardiovascular work out provided by the instructor.

6.  Students will participate in teh daily activity provided by the instructor.

7.  When the shower bell rings, students will proceed to the locker room to shower and /or CHANGE BACK INTO REGULAR SCHOOL CLOTHES.  NOT PRACTICE GEAR!!!!!!!!!

8.  Students will wait in locker room to be dismissed.  ***At this time students may purchase a drink that must be thrown away before leaving the locker room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

GRADING

1.  Each day in class is worth 5 points.  They consist of :

               a.  4 points for proper dress  ( shorts, socks, shoes)

               b.  1 point for participation ( This may be deducted for gum chewing)

2.  Students are required to have a school lock on their locker.  Lockers will be checked periodically throughout the year for locks.  Students who do  not have a lock will receive a "No Dress".

3.  Written quizzes will be given to cover most units.  There will also be a semester exam worth 1/5 of the student's semester greade.  Students who do not come prepared the day of the quiz (a pencil)  will receive a zero for the test.

4.  All students are expected to dress out every day of class.  If a student is absent from class for any reason other than an approved school field trip the 5 points will be needed to be made up on Friday morning make-ups.  Students may arrive on Friday mornings between 7:45 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. (Bus Students) to do a 15 minute work out assigne by the teacher on duty.  Students must report which day they are there to make-up when they arrive.  If a student misses more than one day a week, the student must then come in 2 consecutive Friday's to make up points.  Each 15-minute session will cover 1 missed day.  Students who are absent more than 4 consecutive days may make arrangements with the on duty teacher to come in additional days besides Friday.  This will only be done for those students who miss more than 4 consecutive days.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.  Medical excuses will be granted for those students who present a doctor's note to the P.E. Teacher ( not office).  A student will not be allowed to returen to P.E. until the doctor's note allows you to return.  A parent/nurse's note may be used one time throughout the year as an excuse from class.  Students who are on medical will be sent to study hall, and the agenda book will be your pass to study hall.  If ou do not have an agenda book to be signed as your pass, you will be sent to the office to get a detention slip to use as a pass.  Students who are on long term medical (more than 2 weeks) will report directly to study hall after arrangements have been made with the P.E. Instructor.  These students have the option of taking a medical as a grade or writing a research paper to gain regular credit for the class.

6.  Student who does not dress for any reason other than a medical will be issued a "NO DRESS" for the day.  Students who have a "NO DRESS" are required to make up teh missed time during Friday morning make-ups.  Students will receive half credit for the day missed.  STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO SHOW UP FOR MAKE-UPS FOR "NO DRESSES" WILL LOSE OPEN CAMPUS PRIVILEGED UNTIL THEY MAKE UP THEIR MISSED P.E. TIME.  (AGENDA BOOK)

7.  Students will automatically forfeit all points for unexcused absences.  If there is a test or quiz given the day of an unexcused absence, the student will not be allowed to take the test or quiz and the student will receive a zero.

8.  The GRADING SCALE is as follows:

          A     92-100

          B     85-91

          C     76-84

          D     65-75

          F     64 and below
