Quizzes & Tests:
Weekly or every two weeks quizzes will be given covering a few sections of material. These quizzes will be graded and filed in the students’ classroom files for future reference as study guides for chapter tests. Cumulative chapter tests will be given at the end of most chapters. Students will use previous quizzes, notes, homework, and book to use as study guides for these tests.

Bellwork:
On entering the classroom, students will have 3 minutes after the bell to complete 3 problems from the overhead. These problems are similar or the same problems from previous homework assignments. This keeps the students engaged in learning from the minute they enter the classroom. This also is a daily check for comprehension of previous lessons. Only 2 of the 3 problems are used for a grade. This gives students a chance to make one mistake or not finish a problem in time and still get full credit if 2 of the 3 problems are answered correctly. All students have a daily opportunity for 1 bonus point if all three problems are answered correctly.

Homework:
Students should expect daily homework from this class. Homework assignments are given orally and written in a specific area on the whiteboard for each class. REGULAR ATTENDANCE is an essential part to student academic success. If a student is absent from class they need to pick up an absentee form that shows the assignment in which they missed, and the assignment that needs to be turned in for that day. All students who miss class due to Field Trips need to get their assignment from me the day before or the day of the Field Trip. Students do not get extra days to make up work because of being absent due to a Field Trip. Credit will be given for late assignments as long as they are turned in within one school day of the date the assignment was due. Otherwise, late work will result in no credit. Two late assignments per quarter are allowed for full credit. More than two late assignments per quarter will result in 50% credit and parent notification.

Class Participation:
All students are expected to participate in class. Class participation includes doing calculations, answering questions, asking questions, taking notes, doing bellwork, working in groups, etc. The more a student participates, the more he/she will benefit from this class.

Classroom Procedures:
1. Students will perform Bellwork immediately after entering the classroom.
2. Students will request permission from the teacher, unless an emergency, to leave the classroom and will fill out a hall pass from their agenda book to be signed by the teacher. If the student does not have their agenda book and still needs to leave the room they will have to serve a lunch detention for not having all materials for class.
3. Students will remain seated at their desks during class unless given permission to do otherwise.
4. Students will show RESPECT to ALL people in the classroom.

Consequences:
*First Offense:     Verbal warning with student’s offense noted
*Second Offense: Conference with and/or call to parents
*Third Offense:    Detention from teacher or student will be referred to the principal

**Any offense may result in a referral to the principal if the teacher or supervising adult feels needed.

**Cheating policy is in accordance with the CHS Student Handbook.

The only drink permitted in the classroom is bottled water that has been purchased at school. Food and gum is not permitted.

Have a great school year!
