Who We Are
The District One Foundation was chartered in 1994. It is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit foundation chartered by the State of Illinois, dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for all students of the school district. District One Foundation is a Section 501c(3) organization and all contributions are tax-deductible under section 4942 of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
Our Goals
The foundation is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for all students in the school district. The Trustees plan to continue to promote and support the academic programs of the school district and to sponsor additional scholarships for deserving graduates.
Anyone interested in establishing a scholarship may, without obligation, contact one of the trustees or call the Superintendent's office. The Foundation's committee for scholarship selection is available to assist individuals and organizations in selecting scholarship recipients. All awards are made without regard to age, disability, race, color, sex, creed or nationality.
Anyone interested in making a contribution to the Foundation may print out and complete the online donor form and send it to one of the trustees or to the office.
What We have Done
- Funded a farm safety program through the Hembrough Trust for Greenfield & Carrollton Vocational Agricultural students.
- Procured a grant from Pfizer for the high school science program.
- Established an elementary K-4 Early Bird tutoring program.
- Acquired funding to purchase science equipment to study genetics, to make classroom science kits and to provide materials for Special Education classrooms.
What We Are Currently Doing
- DOF members are selling $10 Kroger gift cards. Additional money can be added to the cards at any time when visiting Kroger. A percentage of the sales goes to the annual DOF sponsored scholarship.
- Funding scholarships to seniors graduation from Carrollton High School ranging from a total of $1,000 in 1994 to 47 scholarships totaling $36,700 in 2012.
- Sponsoring summer science camps for elementary students from Carrollton, St. John's Carrollton and Greenfield for the tenth year, funded in part, with support from Clyde Hembrough Charitable Trust.
- Annually supporting Carrollton teachers with enhancement grants for classroom resources.
Upcoming Events
In January, a few trustees met with CHS seniors for a "DOF Scholarship Presentation". Scholarship applications have been distributed and in the upcoming months, applications will be collected and evaluated. Scholarship winners will be announced at graduation.
The annual Teacher's Enhancement Grant has been offered to CCUSD #1 teachers. The committee will select two teachers to receive this grant to enrich their students/classrooms.
DOF is selling their amazing raffle tickets again with the proceeds funding a scholarship for one lucky senior.
Our Current Donors
These scholarships provide opportunities to our graduates that would not be possible without the generosity of our donors. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the following who support our scholarship recipients.
